Rock in Roma will welcome the rock duo THE BLACK KEYS on July 16, 2025, at the Ippodromo delle Capannelle. The six-time Grammy Award and BRIT Award-winning band has been hailed as “rock royalty” by the Associated Press and “one of the best rock’n’roll bands on the planet” by Uncut.
Tickets will be available starting at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, on rockinroma.com and ticketone.it; and from 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 4 in pre-sale for MyLiveNation subscribers.
The band recently released Ohio Players (Trophy Edition) on Nonesuch/Warner Records—a deluxe version of their twelfth studio album featuring the new single “Mi Tormenta” with DannyLux. Among the special guests contributing to the Trophy Edition tracks—alongside the original album’s many collaborations—are Alice Cooper and Beck. In “Mi Tormenta,” both frontman Dan Auerbach and DannyLux sing in Spanish, marking the first time the Black Keys have recorded in the language.
With the release of Ohio Players in April 2024, The Black Keys topped both the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts. The record also reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts, and No. 4 on the Overall Current Album Sales chart. It marked the band’s sixth consecutive Top 20 album in the UK and entered the Top 20 in several international markets including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and more.
The album was inspired by recent “record hang” sessions between Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, and earned praise from Rolling Stone, which wrote:
“Whether they set their retro-rock machine to Memphis in the ’60s, the Midwest in the ’70s, or Manchester and Los Angeles in the ’90s, it all flows like a wonderfully paced DJ set,” calling it “probably the sharpest batch of songs the Keys have ever made.”
Ohio Players marked an exciting evolution in The Black Keys’ discography, introducing fresh influences while retaining the widely loved sound that defines the duo. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, the album features contributions from friends and artists such as Beck, Noel Gallagher, Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, Greg Kurstin, Juicy J, Lil Noid, and more.
Formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001, The Black Keys consist of Dan Auerbach (vocals/guitar) and Patrick Carney (drums). After starting out in small clubs, the band rose to sell out arena tours and release eleven acclaimed studio albums: The Big Come Up (2002), Thickfreakness (2003), Rubber Factory (2004), followed by Magic Potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008), Brothers (2010), El Camino (2011), Turn Blue (2014), Let’s Rock (2019), Delta Kream (2021), and Dropout Boogie (2022). They’ve headlined major festivals across North America, South America, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.
